Sister Act (1992)

Rating: 60%
I remember seeing this a little bit when I was little. It was on TV so I just watched... probably the last 30 minutes, more or less. So here's the next movie from that bag of VHS tapes; Sister Act.

Plot: Deloris is a lounge singer in a casino run my her boyfriend, Vince LaRocca who is a mobster. When Deloris accidentally witnesses Vince killing a chauffeur, she runs away trying to avoid getting killed too. He tells the police who tell her to testify. Despite her reluctance, one of the police men sends her to a church to go into hiding where the Reverend Mother disguises herself as a nun under the name of Sister Mary Clarence.

yeah this is another one of those comedies from the 90's that turned out to be fairly predictable. But to be fair, just like how it was with African Queen, I already knew what was going to happen because of seeing the ending at some point before seeing the whole movie. But luckily, the movie got better around the very end when things became more exciting and funny. At the end of the day though, this was just one of those so-so comedies.

Actors/Characters:
Whoopi Goldberg/Deloris: Just like Corrina Corrina, I can understand how Goldberg would be funny in this movie. She did give us another character with a fun and clever personality. I wasn't entirely entertained, but I still get why people really liked her back then.
Maggie Smith/Mother Superior: For me, she was the best part of the movie. Why? Because it's Professor McGonagall. Even then, she did so an excellent job in being this strict woman and just as strict leader of the nuns, just all around giving us the talented woman we know Maggie Smith is.

Music: I didn't care for the score because it was not very original, but I did like how a lot of the songs were songs from the 50's

Editing: The Editing was alright. Nothing particularly good or bad.

And that's my review for Sister Act. It's not much of a film aside from being a so-so comedy with a couple of actresses we remember very well.
