Avatar (2009)

Rotten Tomatoes percentage: 60%

okay. so let's review how much Avatar has such HUGE amount of things plot-wise from past movies. here's the list to get started.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire
The Matrix
Dances with Wolves
Last Samurai
FernGully: The Last Rainforest
Dinatopia
LOST
Pocahontas

Atlantis The Lost Empire: the main character is called out in a once in a lifetime opportunity. the main character does intend to take part in what actually is bad for the natives (Jake with taking down the trees/Milo with taking the crystal and bringing it back to the surface) but later on the changes his mind and his friends join him. he is embarrassing to everyone in the expedition and he has lost a relative that is a fairly related to the expedition. he manages to make a few friends, one is this short girl that you do not wanna mess with. eventually he finds the natives but not before coming across this chick from the natives that just HAPPENS to be the princess. the princess brings him to the King announcing it in their own language. the princess teaches/shows a few things to the main character which he does extremely wimpy job doing at first. everything seems all cool and stuff but then the bad guys cut in, things get chaotic, and the king gets killed. the main character decides to do something about it by rounding everyone up and attacking the bad guys. there's some heavy casualties and the whole battle ends with the main character getting off his bird/fish-speeder thingy and hops on the main villain's ship/hot air balloon were they begin to fight. after a while, the main villain (who is this B.A. military guy that has been through quite a bit of war)dies after a long fight were he should have been long dead a while ago. and it all ends with the main character and the princess together forever.

The Matrix: well for this one it's just with the whole cord thing to be able to do some stuff and how most of the friends die.

Dances with Wolves: like Jake and Milo, but really jake, he begins on the bad guy's side but when he is taken by the natives, he changes his mind. and he kinda does get the princess or somewhat the princess. and there's this whole preachy deal about the natives.

The Last Samurai: same thing as Dances with Wolves

FernGully:the Last Rainforest: same thing as The Last Samurai & Dances with Wolves but during the middle of the movie the word is out about the truth of the main male character and the main female chracter is running away totally broken hearted.

Dinatopia: mainly this has to do with the main male character learning all the new things and particularity with learning to fly one of the birds & kinda getting your own bird.

LOST: frankly i only put LOST here considering the matter of how, like John Locke in LOST, Jake is crippled and it's this wonderful, beautiful thing when he gets his legs back but it's only that way until Jake is no longer inside his avatar, similar to John Locke being cured only as long as he stays on the island.

Pocahontas: really all i'm putting here is how the princess is promised to the real stud warrior at first before the main character comes into the picture.

now there's some similarities with the military stuff and things like that from starcraft and aliens along with the creatures that were similar to the aliens from treasure planet and so on but i think i've given enough details for one review.

all around, the special effects and graphics were excellent. i saw one flaw with the propellers to the ships from the battle during this one shot. but it was flawless aside from that.

all around, it was a great movie and i enjoyed it alot.
